Lesson Expectations:
- I expect all students to come well prepared to lessons–you will only get as much out of your time with me as you put in without me!
- Being well prepared means looking at each week’s notes promptly after they have been updated in the student’s personal document.
- Do not stress about perfection, it’s not what I am looking for. However, I can definitely tell when something has not been practiced!
- I would rather you be honest and say you did not practice something rather than lie. Lying does nothing for either of us except make us feel weird.
- All students should have the following required materials:
- A flute in good working order
- A metronome
- A tuner
- Many, many pencils
- All method books and music as assigned
- Most importantly, have fun! Remember I am not here to judge you or your character. You are taking lessons because you want to become a better player, and I am only here to help.
Payment
- Payment will occur in 4-lesson packages.
- This means, every 4 lessons, a new invoice will be sent and payment will be due.
- Upon enrollment, a payment in the amount of 4 weeks is due at the time of the first lesson.
- New students may decide to schedule an individual trial lesson before committing to the first four lesson package.
- If the student wishes to continue after the trial lesson, payment for the remaining 3 lessons in the package is due at the time of the second lesson.
- New students may decide to schedule an individual trial lesson before committing to the first four lesson package.
- Payment may be made by cash, check, Venmo, or Zelle.
- Checks may be made out directly to “Julia Carey”
Absences & Cancellations
- Lessons cancelled within 24 hours of the lesson or missed lessons are non-refundable.
- Students/parents must give at minimum, 24-hours notice on an absence in order to have a rescheduled make-up lesson at no extra charge.
- Make-up lessons need not occur during the week of absence.
- If for whatever reason, I need to cancel a lesson, you will be given a make-up lesson at both of our earliest convenience.
- Time will not run over the scheduled lesson time due to tardiness. (Ex. if you are 15 minutes late to a 60-minute lesson, you will then only have a 45-minute lesson).
- If I am late for whatever reason, that time will either continue for its full value, or you will gain that time back in another lesson, depending on both parties’ availability.
